Get into the spirit with The City of Sydney’s 30 great days of Christmas in Sydney kicking off with a simultaneous concert in Martin Place and Hyde Park and the lighting of the City’s spectacular 21-metre high Martin Place Christmas Tree on November 26.
Not just your average oversized Chrissy tree, the interactive Martin Place festive staple will project light onto surrounding heritage buildings, host carol singers as well a site where Sydneysiders and guests have a chance to cuddle Labrador puppies before they embark on guide dog training.
Other highlights of the COS’s planned events include:
lluminations and projections - Sydney Town Hall will be illuminated with festive colours and the facades of historic buildings in Martin Place will be lit with dramatic digital projections. The GPO building will also light up with state-of-the-art interactive projections while the 75-metre façade of St Mary’s Cathedral will be illuminated with a free display of sound and light from December 10.
Boulevarde of Light - more than a hundred live Christmas trees will line Pitt Street Mall as 62,000 white lights twinkle above. The trees will be auctioned during the week of Christmas and all proceeds will go to the City’s Sydney Christmas charity partner, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT.
Village Christmas Concerts - village Christmas concerts take place at Rushcutters Bay (28 November), Rosebery (29 November), Alexandria (5 November) and Surry Hills (6 December). Expect great live music as well as entertainment from children’s favourites including Sam Moran, Justine Clarke and more.
