Less than two months out from the 2017 Sydney Writers’ Festival (22-28 May), we’ve summarised some key dates and all the latest so you don’t miss anything. But event communications should be two-way and we ask members to update WBAC now on anything planned during SWF.
The 2017 Festival program will be announced on Thursday 6 April, tickets go on sale at 9 am the following day (7 April) while the official program guide is printed in the Sydney Morning Herald's Spectrum on Saturday, 8 April. And in a pre-program event on May 2, high profile satirist/ writer/ producer, Armando Iannucci, OBE, opens the Festival with an Author Talk at Sydney Town Hall.
‘Family Day’ will take place on Sunday 28 May and in an attempt to broaden its appeal across the country, SWF will also launch ‘Live and Local’ – a new program partnering with local organisations to live-stream key Festival events into regional Australia.
Attracting close to 100,000 visitors annually, SWF, based primarily in Walsh Bay, is an exceptional opportunity for Chamber members and local businesses. By working collaboratively with organisers, like Simmer on the Bay’s ongoing partnership with the Festival to host the VIP Author Lounge, the local community stands to benefit as a whole.
If you are based in Walsh Bay and are planning anything during SWF (or have an interest in doing so) please let WBAC know so we can assist you.
